Electrosurgery
Electrosurgery is the treatment of biological tissue with high frequency current. An electrosurgical generator (HF-unit) produces the electrical current, which transmits the energy to the tissue. During high frequency surgery alternating current is conducted through the human body in order to cut tissue. A major advantage as compared to conventional cutting techniques with scalpel is that sealing (coagulation) of the concerned vessels with hemostasis can be done at the same time as cutting. Technical advancement in electrosurgery have turned it into a safe and necessary practice for all kinds of surgical operations.
The use of electrosurgery during surgical operations is very popular. Surgeons often use high frequency current to dissect tissue or to stop bleeding (hemostasis). Electrosurgery is a safe and effective means for both invasive and minimally invasive operations.
